Robert Fielding

Robert Fielding is a contemporary artist of Pakistani, Afghan, Western Arrernte and Yankunytjatjara descent, based in Mimili Community on the APY Lands. Working across photography, new media, painting and traditional craft, he brings strong cultural roots to contemporary concerns, exploring tensions between community life and global issues. A son of the Stolen Generations, his practice is grounded in cultural reclamation, truth-telling and unity, shaped by Elders and major institutions alike. Recent highlights include residencies at Canberra Glassworks and McClelland, On Country at Arles, and the 2025 Jeffrey Smart Commission. He is also widely respected as a mentor and community leader.
